7...Birthday Plans
Days to go...
I am working on birthday plans right now. Both for Baby Girl who will be 8 and myself who will be... forty... something... mumble... mumble... haha...got ya...you thought I was going to tell you didn't you! My birthday is the 23rd and hers is on the 29th. She's easy! We will be having a Royal Tea Party for her celebration! The girls will drink from china tea cups, ice their own mini muffins, have finger sandwiches, play games and do a craft. I stumbled across this one today and thought that it would be perfect for the girls.

I'll cut out all the flowers ahead of time and have a small bowl at each place setting for each individual girl. We are going to have a "guess how much candy" is in the jar contest, pin the kiss on the frog and musical glass slipper (think musical chairs only passing a shoe around instead) I think all that should be enough to keep them busy for a couple of hours... although I am open to suggestions from those who have done something like this before.

I'm a little harder. I don't even know what kind of cake I want. I don't know where I want to go to eat (hubby always takes me out) or what I want to do for entertainment. I'm like a vast desert wasteland when it comes to ideas for myself. I haven't been much help in the gift department either. I don't know what I want. I suspect that the problem is that I just don't want Spartan to spend a lot of money on me. We just don't have a lot this year...it's been a tough year. Spartan always goes overboard on me. If I tell him I want a music CD, he's likely to buy me that AND a new CD player to play it in. I know it's because he loves me, but I'm worried about it this year.
Do you have any clever ideas for me? Inquiring minds want to know!

11...Funny Picture
Days to go...
Yesterday I took an ornament class at a LQS with my Mom. We really had a nice time with all the ladies and when I finish the binding on my ornament, I'll post a picture. This is an example of the ornament I made:
I made the ornament size and my Mom made the trivet size. She said we made the young (ornament) eyes versus the old (trivet) eyes versions! Afterwards, I got to have tea with Mom and her best friend until Spartan showed up with the kiddos and he and I went shopping.
Speaking of Spartan, just before I left for my class, I snapped the cutest picture of him. Baby Girl was giving him a makeover while he was studying for finals. He's such a good sport about this stuff! All the boys thought it was hysterical! Here is my bee-ute-ious husband:
She even put earrings on him!
I finished my step-sister's lap quilt this weekend. After I give it a wash, I'll post a picture of it. I really love the way it turned out. I know she will love it!

13...Christmas Jokes
Days to go...
Okay, so I was going to give you a sneek peek at what I will be posting on Monday, but my Paint Shop Pro is having a fight with Vista today! I'm thinking Vista is just having a bad PMS day. Every so often it just doesn't like my photo editing program. Stupid Vista! So instead here are some jokes for you:
Just before Christmas, an honest politician, a generous lawyer and Santa Claus were riding in the elevator of a very posh hotel. Just before the doors opened they all noticed a $20 bill lying on the floor.
Which one picked it up?
Santa of course, because the other two don't exist!
**********
At a monastery high in the mountains, the monks have a rigid vow of silence. Only at Christmas, and only by one monk, and only with one sentence, is the vow allowed to be broken.
One Christmas, Brother Thomas is allowed to speak and he says, "I like the mashed potatoes we have with the Christmas turkey!" and he sits down. Silence ensues for 365 days.
The next Christmas, Brother Michael gets his turn, and he says "I think the mashed potatoes are lumpy and I hate them!"
Once again, silence for 366 days (it's leap year). The following Christmas, Brother Paul rises and says, "I am fed up with this constant bickering!"
**********
What's the first thing elves learn in school? The "elf"-abet!
**********
What do you call someone who doesn't believe in Father Christmas? A rebel without a Claus!
**********
According to the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, while both male and female reindeer grow antlers in the summer each year, male reindeer drop their antlers at the beginning of winter, usually late November to mid-December.Female reindeer retain their antlers till after they give birth in the spring. Therefore, according to EVERY historical rendition depicting Santa's reindeer, EVERY single one of them, from Rudolph to Blitzen, had to be a girl.We should have known... ONLY women would be able to drag a fat man in a red velvet suit all around the world in one night and not get lost.
Hopefully tomorrow Vista and my PSP will be getting along and I can tease you with some preview pictures!
Until then...

15...My Sewing Tutorial Roundup
Days to go...
Here are a bunch of the tutorials I have saved in my favorites. I really want to make these up! I have so many WIP's though, that if I don't start finishing some of those first, there won't be any more room in my house (read: places to stack each of my different projects that I am working on!). If I make one more pile, Spartan will leave me...of course that would allow for more places to put more works in progress...
Just click on the pictures to go to the site where the tutorial is posted!
Fabric basket
Covered measuring tape
Hair clips (these will be in Baby Girls stocking this year!)
Cutest little monkey

16... a Pretty Little Christmas Blog Party
Days to go...
I am going to be participating in a blog party! On December 15th a bunch of bloggers are going to be joining Heather over at Pretty Petals who is hosting a Christmas blogland event! We will be posting some of our "Pretty Little Christmas" things. I have one thing in mind already, and we will see what else I might be able to come up with! It should be fun and inspirational to see all the beautiful things that, as Heather put it, make our hearts sing! Make sure you drop by her blog!
On the sicko front...I went to the Doctor today because I just got sick and tired of being, well, sick and tired! Apparently I have a bacterial virus (???) in my vocal cords. I didn't even know you could get both, I thought it was either one or the other...learned something new! Here's the part my kiddo's like...I'm not supposed to use my voice for the next 3-4 days! Whispers only, thank you very much! Trust me when I say, umm, whisper, that if you have a dog and can only whisper at it to make it stop barking...It keeps barking! I have to say that since I haven't been talking today, I am coughing less. He gave me an antibiotic and told me to breathe lots of steam.
The worst part...no singing Christmas songs with Baby Girl right now! We love to sing together! so on that note...here is a Christmas song for your listening pleasure...

17... Moda Poem
Days to go...
I recently signed up for a giveaway over at Moda...Home...Mom... She was giving away a nice package of Moda fabric things. To enter you had to come up with a holiday song or poem about Moda. I didn't win (I'm sure she's very nice, and the winners lyrics were cute, but she must not have read mine as I OBVIOUSLY wrote the better entry...lol), but I thought I would share my entry with you.
Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the home,
not needle was stitching
through the rooms I did roam.
I stopped at the mantel
and did gaze with my eyes all alight,
at my quilted snowman hanging
from Moda's "Merry & Bright."
I paused by the tree and felt such a resonance,
I knew all would be happy
with their "Christmas Presence."
I stepped on the stair
to go snuggle in bed,
in "Funky Monkey" pj's
when I heard a sound in my head.
Santa walked behind me
and whispered quite clear
"Cranberry Wishes" to all
and to all a Moda year!
It was fun coming up with the the words for the poem! The woman who won, did a great job with new lyrics to the "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas." Go to Angela's site to read them!
I should have an update on a couple projects I have been working on in the next day or two, I am afraid with this cold/flu thing I have, I just haven't had the energy to work as fast as I wanted too. Stay tuned...
