I “Felt” Like Showing You Something…

I know I haven’t been blogging much lately. I just haven’t really been in the mood. I have been crafting though. I thought I would show you my newest finish. It’s a wool felt lamp penny rug. I love the way it turned out. I used beads to accent the middle and sort of “made up” the stitch I used with them. I’m sure I didn’t really make it up…there’s nothing new under the sun! :-)

A Gift, A Bug and More...

I know I have been neglecting my blog alot lately. I've just been busy, and therefore, not had much of anything to share. I've been running around so much lately that it feels as if I am pracitically living in my car!

I do have one little finish to show you. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that a dear friend of mine got married. Well, a week after the wedding it was her birthday! I had brought home some of the flowers that were the centerpieces on the tables with her birthday in mind. I dried them in the oven then used them to fill this sachet that I embroidered and beaded for her. I think it turned out lovely! I know that my friend was pleased with it.

I thought this was interesting. One morning last week, when I was taking Baby Girl down to the bus I spied this cool bug. It's a walking stick! I have only seen one once or twice, other than this one, in my life! They are impossible to find if you are looking for them, but this one just presented itself to us on one of the plastic chairs on our front porch...how cool is that!!! If you are interested in learning more about this bug you can go here and read about them!
Last, but certainly not least Sharon over at Daffycat is having a giveaway for her 2 year blogoversary. She is giving away, to two winners, a Simon's Cat book. If, like me, you have apparently been living under a rock, check out the following YouTube video I have embeded. I am in love with this darling cat now! If you have a cat, these videos are a must see!!

That's all for now, though I will have my Daughter's costume finished in the next day or so and I will post pictures of that...she's going to be Laura Ingalls for Halloween and I am (trying to) make her a somewhat authentic costume. 'Till then...

A Giveaway Win and a Swap...

I'm a little behind making this post.

At the end of September I won a wonderful giveaway from Pam over at Tall House Quilts. The giveaway was for some wonderful fall decorations and a Halloween decorating book. It's hard to see in the picture, but all the gourds are covered in beads. I have decorated my "sideboard" (which is actually an old dresser with an even older mirror propped on it) in my dining room. I absolutely love the way it looks! Thank you so much Pam! If you get a minute you should really pop on over to her blog, she does some beautiful sewing and quilting!
fall giveaway

My other goody I want to share is a swap I participated in. Viki from Tozz's Corner and Jenny from Elefantz hosted a mug hug swap. We made a mug mat and a mug cozy for a partner and they made one for us! It was great fun to do! Nanine from the Netherlands (no blog that I'm aware of) was my partner and what she sent me is darling! I love the way she quilted the hearts into the mug cozy! And it's pink! What more could a girl ask for!!! Thank you Nanine for making this a great swap for me!
Angel Hugs

And here is what I sent her:

It's hard to see, but the flowers are actually embroidered with silver thread, it's a pain to work with, but it looks so nice when it's finished!

Now, you don't really have to go look, and put your name in as I fully intend to win this and really, you'll just be wasting your time...;o)

Life's a Yo-Yo...

Sewn yo-yo's that is!
Baby Girl and I worked on a project that I got from Zakka Life. Baby girl did most of the sewing herself. I sewed a bit of elastic on the back and I connected the yo-yo's for her. She did a great job making all the yo-yo's herself! Isn't this the cutest bracelet!

Of course I had to get in on the action too! Mine isn't quite done yet, I'll finish it tonight while we watch t.v. I just love this material! I so wish I could get more. It is from a scrap swap I did a while back. The flowers are outlined in gold and my camera just doesn't do justice to the colors!

I also ran across these darling yo-yo clip barretts over at Wee Folk Art.

They even provide the instructions on how to make them!

Last, but most certainly not least there is a giveaway at one of my favorite blogs! Lori from Bee In My Bonnet is generously giving away floursack dishtowels, DMC floss, needles and a choice of an iron on transfer set.
If you've never been to Lori's blog before, you have to stop by. She has some of the most darling quilts I have ever, EVER seen! Oh, but of course you don't have to sign up for her giveaway as I plan to win...

Playing catch up...

I finally have a few craft related pictures to show you. First is a darling little drawstring backpack that I made from a pattern from Diane Nesbit. I made it my size on the straps, I am planning on making another one for Baby Girl and making MUCH shorter straps! I do think it needs a flower or something on the top where the drawstring(strap) goes through. Next up I wanted to show you a picture of a beautiful giveaway I won from Lana over at Honeysuckle Lane. She does exquisite ribbon work! You should stop by her lovely blog and see some of her other beautiful pieces. She sent a darling scrabble pendant along with my beautiful pillow. You can see better pictures than I take over at her blog.
Last up, I promised a picture when I finished the stroller quilt for my Daughter's teacher who just had a baby girl. So without further ado (even though it's been done for over two weeks...):
It's just a simple nine patch backed with a soft pink chenille. I didn't quilt it as I can't do that on my machine, so it's just tied. I think it turned out really cute! It was a total stash buster too, so that just added to my pleasure with it. A great gift with no real out of pocket expense! The best!
I'll have more to show soon...

18...A Giveaway & My Christmas Giveaway

***UPDATE*** I used the random number generator thingy...and the winner is...Penny from Bee and Bean! Congratulations Penny! I always feel bad for those who don't win, but hopefully, we will have made a new contact here in blogland and I hope to see you guys back!
Day to go...
You have got to hop on over to The Great Christmas Giveaway site and check out the giveaway being hosted by Angelina's Trinkets. The amount of generous, lovely items she is giving away is truely amazing! She will be drawing names on Christmas Day!

In that spirit, I am having my Christmas Giveaway! I am giving away a Santa hat purse made by yours truely! There will be a few other goodies along with the purse, but I want them to be a surprise, so they aren't pictured. This giveaway is open to EVERYONE! If someone internationally wins, though, due to the cost of postage, I can't guarantee that you will receive it before Christmas. I will be drawing the winner on the morning of December 12th so that I can get the package posted that day!

You do not have to have a blog to enter!

For one entry leave a post here on this blog entry. Say hi, tell me where you are from, tell me anything! Although you won't be penalized for a simple "pick me" message, I would love to have something more to read! I am trying to find some more blogland friends, and who knows, I could be your best friend in hiding!!!

For two extra entries post about my giveaway on your blog and leave me a second comment telling me you did and where your blog is!

That's it! I hope to hear from lots and lots of you!

Project Progress and the Incredibly Giving Winnings

I have finished the projects I wanted to for my Mother's birthday on Thursday. I mentioned the apron I wanted to make for her painting class since she keeps putting her boobs in her paint! It turned out really cute and was incredibly easy to make.

I also made up the ornament I mentioned. It turned out really cute. It's hard to see but the background material for the snowman is actually a pale blue with sparkly snow flakes, which is why I couldn't get a good picture of it! I learned a valuable lesson while making this. Don't talk on the phone to Gamer (who is at college) while sewing, otherwise you won't pay attention and WILL stick the eye of the needle viciously in your finger! That was two days ago and my finger is STILL killing me!

I also decided to use a darling panel I had on hand that I bought at my LQS recently. I had originally planned to make a wall hanging out of it for myself, but decided my Mom needed a fun Christmas table runner instead! It's very simple, just a little quilt as you go where I added the borders, but I love the way it turned out!

A while back I won a penny rug giveaway from Trudy over at Bits of Wool. After much concern over the fact that the mail decided to move slower than a snail...I got it! Look at all the wonderful things Trudy sent me!

Beautiful magazines, lovely ribbons and mini ornaments, buttons and chocolate! Even though my fingers are itching to get started on the stitching on the penny rug, I am being a good girl and I have put it away until I finish all my Christmas things! Now I have a lovely thing to look forward to making after the holidays! Thank you so much Trudy! You truly have a loving and giving nature!

Make sure you stop over to Trudy's blog as she is having another giveaway - you really don't want to miss out on the opportunity.

We have a winner...

My Daughter drew a name out of the bowl. The winner is...

You know I just have to say something, don't you just hate it when people are having a giveaway and they wait until the afternoon to tell you who won!?!

And then, instead of just telling you who the winner is...they have to tell you all this stuff that you don't really want to read?

You know who I mean...those really annoying...I have something important to tell you...I know you won't mind waiting...Since I have your full attention...type of people.

I mean really, what ARE they thinking??? All you really want to know is if you won or not. You don't really care about all the other stuff they have to say, show you, link you to...on and on and on...

I just wanted you to know that I find that type of person really, really, really annoying! I would never do something like that to you! I mean really that would just be SOOOO rude. One thing I pride myself on is being polite...and nice...and thoughtful...and fair...and most importantly I pride myself on getting to the point! I would never just blather on and on when what you really want to know is if you won my giveaway.

So, since I am not like those people and I really do have important things to say...

Congratulations to Jane from Jane's Fabric and Quilts...you are the winner!

You all should go check out Jane's site! She is putting up a Christmas Village and documenting the whole thing...too cute!

Thank you everyone who entered. I will be having another giveaway right after Thanksgiving for the cutest little thing you ever saw...so stay tuned!!
